Stuffr 0.9.8

It’s been over a year since I updated Stuffr. A lot has happened in the past year. I’ve acquired a MacBook and an iPhone. I’ve been laid off from the day job I held for almost 11 years, and I have formed an LLC for my own company.
There isn’t too much new with Stuffr 0.9.8, but there was a slight change with WordPress starting with version 2.8+ so I thought I better get a new build out on the streets, so to speak.
When upgrading to this version of Stuffr, if you are using WordPress2.8+ (which you really should upgrade your copy of WordPress if you aren’t) you MUST edit the Service API in the Account Setup screen to ‘WordPress2.8+’ or else you will see some strange anomalies when you try to edit posts.
So, here is the new Stuffr:
Stuffr, a desktop blogging client for Windows, has a streamlined design that works in conjuction with multiple weblog platforms.
With keyboard shortcuts, syntax highlighting, and smart prompts, Stuffr offers you all of the tools needed for speedy and convenient posting.
Stuffr allows you to save drafts or publish entries to your blog in real time, but it also offers the choice of saving the post locally for further review and editing.
New in this version of Stuffr are four preset color themes, as well as the choice to customize the interface colors.
Stuffr currently supports blogging on the Blogger, Movable Type and Wordpress platforms, as well as Tumblr TumbleLogs.
Stuffr’s features include:
- Multiple blog accounts
- Add files, images, links and web videos (from YouTube, Vimeo, College Humor, and MetaCafe)
- HTML syntax highlighting
- Four customizable tag buttons
- It’s 100% free, with no ads or spyware!

Stuffr 0.9.7

The newest version of Stuffr is here. While you thought I was sitting around doing nothing, I was planning a complete overhaul behind the scenes as well as making several changes to Stuffr’s streamlined design.
Over the course of the last couple months, I received quite a bit of feedback. Many of you asked for changes in the interface to make it look less cluttered. So I took some time and re-designed the look and feel to make it more user-friendly, if that was even possible.
The most requested item was support for Blogger. I am happy to report, I have added basic support for posting to your Blogger account. Based on user feedback, I might add more features, but for now, you can post and edit. That should make a lot of you happy.
While I did change the look of the application, I also did a complete overhaul of the code behind the scenes. Things should run much more efficiently.
The most notable change, however, will be the lack of support for Twitter and Pownce. I have removed Pownce support completely because of the utter lack of activity over there, and I removed the Twitter component of the application because of the unstableness of the Twitter site. I am still working on the code, and when I feel it is stable enough, I will re-release the Twitter components of Stuffr as a stand-alone module you can run alongside Stuffr.

- When choosing a custom theme, the colors didn’t always match the chosen ones.
- Fixed the way Stuffr handles incoming parameters from other applications (like FeedDemon’s BlogThis).
Changes:
- Cleaned up and changed the entire Stuffr interface. All of the functionality is still there, I have just removed numerous buttons from the main screen to make it look “cleaner”.
- When clicking (or keying Ctrl-W) for a WordCount, the result is now shown on the status bar for a short time instead of popping up a window you have to close.
Removals:
- Support for adding Technorati tags to the end of the post content.
- Support for posting to Twitter and Pownce
Known Issues:

It’s here! It’s finally here!
The long awaited update is finally finished. It took a bit longer than I expected (about a month longer) because I wanted to add as much to this version as I could before letting it out the door, so to speak. So here it is…

As you use the Stuffr interface to view your Twitter timeline, it will display up to the last 250 tweets you have received since starting the application.

- Following/Leaving Twitter Users

Bug Fixes:
- The tab order on the Account Setup Screen is now in the correct order.
- The height and width of the app would “fluctuate” from time to time.
- The Insert Image/Upload File window would hang (not close) when uploading large files or images.
- If you edit a post on one blog and then switch to another blog, it no longer overwrites the post id on the second blog.
- Fixed a small sizing issue when embedding YouTube videos.
- Changed the default position of the cursor on the form when opening some options.
Known Issues:
- If you have chosen to update Twitter while creating a blog entry, you will notice a “delay” as the Twitter display is refreshed.
